Onyx - Elshadai Estate
COF-OX-0101This natural lot from Elshadai Coffee Estate in Kiambu County serves as both a remarkable coffee and a tribute to a disappearing landscape, as rising land values near Nairobi threaten the future of such historic farms. Discovered by Kenyan coffee professional Judy Murimi, this selection features a blend of iconic SL28 and SL34 varieties along with the yielding Ruiru 11. Unlike traditional Kenyan washed coffees, this lot underwent a specialized processing method including an estimated two-day anaerobic fermentation before being slow-dried on raised beds. The resulting cup is dense and layered, balancing deep notes of dark chocolate and raisin with a vibrant fruit profile of sweet melon and juicy blackberry
