Clear notes when cooled

Continuing the quest to try a lot of Canadian Third Wave/Speciality Instant coffee, brings me to Hasty’s Adventure Box. I was quite excited to try an offering by Hasty as they are the team behind many of the Instants on the market at the moment. I started off with water between 80-85C which may have been too warm as the initial sips were very flat and nondescript. It cooled over time to room temp and it really came alive. I got all the notes mentioned from the aroma (not guaranteed for instant), while drinking and also a pleasantly lingering aftertaste. Overall this was wonderful when cooled, so perhaps try cooler water (try 70-75C). A little disappointing on that it must be cool in order to get an interesting cup, which is why I’m only giving it a 4/5, but very enjoyable and about mid-range for the cost.

Life saver!

These specialty instant coffees are life savers when you don`t have time to brew fresh coffee. Surprisingly some of them are even better than manual pour overs.

Better than other powdered ones I’ve tried.

As good as it gets

In my humble opinion, after trying 10+ different brands of light roast instant coffees, this is the best. Same goes for Hasty’s Wander (I have yet to try the rest of the Hasty lineup outside of these two). Hasty instant coffees are the only instant coffees with actual body. All other instant coffees for me have been thin, and skewing to insipid with a weird overly acidic taste. Way to go Wander!

Pretty nice!

I tried these along with a washed Ethiopian instant coffee from Phil & Sebastian, and while I might have preferred the Ethiopian, this still felt like a great purchase. More acidity than I might have expected, and some subtle berry undertones, I actually looked forward to the cup, which is not something I would have expected from instant coffee.
